The long anticipated 2024 UK General Election is upon us, where the people hoping to represent you in the next UK Parliament will be vying for your vote. This is a crucial opportunity to take action!
A new Parliament offers a fresh start to build new relationships with future MPs, let them know what you and your church expect, and urge them to take action to end poverty and create a more just and sustainable world.
In Northern Ireland our MPs may not form part of the next government, but they can still play a vital role in holding it to account and communicating their constituents’ priorities.
We’ve put together resources below setting out what Christian Aid is calling for in this 2024 UK election. Please consider asking some of these suggested questions as candidates come knocking on doors and leafletting, or by writing or emailing their office.

Three Key questions to ask your election candidates
1. Climate action
If elected will you call on the government to significantly increase funding to support climate vulnerable countries to deal with the impacts of climate change? Will you push for urgent action at home to reduce emissions and limit these impacts?
2. Economic justice
If elected will you call on the government to tackle global economic inequality? Will you push for legislation to support debt relief for lower income countries?
3. Building peace
If elected how would you use your position to calling on the next UK government to use its voice, money, and influence to be a force for peace in the world?
