The European Union (EU) currently funds Christian Aid Ireland through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) for a two-year programme in Colombia.
The European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) is a thematic funding instrument for EU external action aiming to support projects in the area of human rights, fundamental freedoms and democracy in non-EU countries.
This instrument is designed to support civil society to become an effective force for political reform and defense of human rights.
It is administered by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development and the EU Delegations in the field.
The EU delegation in Colombia funds and oversees our project “Promotion and protection of Colombian women human rights defenders within the framework of the implementation of the Peace Agreement”, which runs from 2018 – 2020 to support the work of female human rights defenders in order to safeguard their contribution to the building of a peaceful Colombian society that is respectful of human rights.
